We're at the Samsung Experience at the Time Warner Center in New York City for Sammy's big TouchWiz UX reveal. As the first skinned Honeycomb implementation we are curious to see what Samsung's devs have in store for us, and as a preview we have the gallery below. A few things jump out at us, first the new OS X style dock, the revamped Notifications shade and the variable sized widgets, not quite resizable but a great option none the less. Enjoy the preview and we will be back with a full update shortly.

Will the TouchWiz UX be optional or is it forced on all users that want to update to the latest Android?

    What do you think?

So I'll be working on the full post on this shortly (won't be brief) but I will say a few things. First, yes, there is lock-in here. If Tab owners want to get future updates they will get TouchWiz, no two ways about it. But, that might not be the worst thing ever.

Welcome to Android, where the user's desires play second fiddle to the manufacturer's desire to "differentiatate" from the pile of other Android devices.

Samsung just doesn't seem to learn.
They create a new skin for the TouchWiz and they make it look like the OS X dock?
One wonders if the legal department and the Product Development team are on different planets

I guess whenever icons are aligned horizontally, it'll always be compared to OS X's dock =P

    Jason,

Just an FYI, but technically Samsung isn't the first with a skinned Honeycomb implementation...it's Asus.

Just looked over the AT EeePad review and I'm not seeing any skinning. What in particular were you referring to?
